Chevron Upstream Europe (CUE) currently has an offshore opportunity for a Maintenance Technician – Instruments. This position will be working as part of a multi-discipline team. The successful candidate should be a highly articulate and effective communicator with excellent team building & interpersonal skills. Prepared to assist with a variety of tasks to a level consistent with knowledge and training.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Safe and efficient operation and optimisation of all instrumentation and associated systems.

  • Implementing planned and corrective maintenance on instrument systems and ability to use the electronic CMMS system SAP to provide details of task and history. Accountable for the execution and prioritising of assigned work orders in the plan.

  • Calibration of variety of instruments and conduct routine tests of plant ESD systems and use of inhibits/isolations to prevent unplanned shutdowns.

  • Ability to read P&IDs, C&Es, loop diagrams, vendor documentation and generate logs/reports/handover notes.

  • Trained to a competent standard to work and carry out maintenance on equipment used within hazardous areas. The range of equipment includes, but is not limited to the following: Systems

  • Simple and complex control loops interfacing with the Honeywell TDC3000 system.

  • Emergency Shutdown System and associated inputs and outputs.

  • Pneumatic / Hydraulic Wellhead Control Panel

  • Main and Emergency power generation

  • Firefighting systems including firewater, foam and CO2

  • Miscellaneous discrete package units, unit control panels etc. Equipment

  • Honeywell Distributed Control System

  • ICS Emergency Shutdown System and Fire and Gas System

  • “Smart” transmitters (Pressure, flow, temperature, level)

  • Flow instrumentation (orifice, ultrasonic, variable area, etc.)

  • Programmable Logic Controllers

  • Nucleonic Instrumentation

  • F&G Detectors (Point, Line of Sight, Smoke, Heat etc.)

  • Front line intervention to plant breakdowns, diagnostic and fault finding in the event of equipment or control system failure, using relevant engineering drawings, vendor manuals to assist with corrective actions. Regularly makes use of production, operating and start-up manuals for relevant systems. Reviews content to ensure accuracy and highlights discrepancies.

  • Proactive member of the Offshore Team, advising the Operations & Maintenance Departments in order to meet team deliverables and objectives. Member of the Installation’s Emergency Response Organisation; required to fulfil a role such as Emergency Response Team Member/Leader; Lifeboat Coxswain.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Apprenticeship or have a recognised qualification and background in an oil/gas environment.

  • Extensive instrument operations and maintenance experience preferably gained in an offshore environment.

  • Must have the ability to compile technical reports with associated drawings as required, pertaining to instrument systems or operations.

  • Small Bore tubing training.

  • Proactive approach to HE&S initiatives.

  • Demonstrate good teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a close, multi-discipline environment. Maintain positive and tactful relationships with others.

  • Demonstrate proactive, flexible and positive attitude. Share knowledge freely with others to ensure best practices.
