More information about Chevron in Australia is available at https://australia.chevron.com/Chevron Chevron Australia Downstream is seeking to appoint a Field Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Specialist who will primarily act as the Operational Excellence (OE) Process support for the Chevron OE Environmental Stewardship Process Implementation and Environmental Legacy requirements. Reporting to HSE Lead Australia, this exciting opportunity is based in Brisbane with regular domestic travel.
Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:
Manage the Environ mental Risk and Legacy Requirements for the business
Identify and manage environmental regulatory requirements including management, monitoring, and reporting for waste, water, air, noise and other environmental aspects.
Lead the Environmental Risk (Aspects) Identification and Management
Support the Third-Party Waste Management, Property Transfer processes
Develop and Maintain Environmental Management Plans for Retail and Terminal operations
Represent the Business to regulators and other environmental stakeholders
Provide guidance on environmental legislation and environmental authority requirements
Support the environmental remediation portfolio including the management of 3rd party contractors and consultants as needed, manage budgets and evaluate remediation programs as needed
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the following:
Broad Environmental Management experience that will support the effective implementation of both environmental risk and environmental remediation processes
Proven consultant / contractor management skills, budget management, financial acumen, multi state legislative knowledge, document management and regulatory reporting
Supervisor skills to ensure these third part activities are completed safely and to a high standard.
Demonstrated ability to coach, influence and build Environmental competency in others. Proven experience and tertiary qualifications that allow the person to speak with authority, competence and clarity on key HSE processes and environmental requirements whilst achieving a practical process field application.
Ability to analyze data and information to make sound decisions and efficient solutions to issues and problems as they arise and call on support and SME advise as needed to proactively manage risk and meet project deadlines.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related environmental engineering discipline
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a chemical plant or refinery or working as a HSE /Remediation professional with other major Oil & Gas downstream companies
