Chevron Corporation Sr Unconventional Development Geologist in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Position Description

  • As the Senior Development Geologist, you will provide with support to the Operations G&G and Wells teams in planning and executing the development drilling program for Loma Campana, a fast-paced factory model unconventional field.

  • You will also ensure that Operator`s Full Field Development Plans contain and prioritize the best producing benches and areas, though maximizing the well length and developable area extent.

  • Responsible for the integrated the geological characterization of the field and to validate, update and upgrade Petrel Static Model and database, as well as oversee the geological studies related to appraisal and development well data.

  • Technical representation & advisory on full field development plans, including review of playbooks, planning & execution of development and infill wells and pilots.

  • Participation and representation at technical committee meetings.

  • Technical control on Authorization for Expenditures (AFE) proposals and technical reviews (geological settings, EUR/well, Fracs type, number and spacing per well)

  • Role will require participation and Operator’s technical proposals validation on technical committee meetings, technical and workshops interactions

  • Technical Geology support on Reserves & Resources processes.

  • To follow progress and provide updates to Leadership Team on Drilling and Completion operations

  • Requires close working relationships with reservoir engineers, drilling, and G&G operations

Required Qualifications

  • +10 years’ experience in subsurface static evaluations, from appraisal through development, to provide guidance and technical review on development plans and reservoir management activities to optimize the value of the asset.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology

  • Experienced in Petrel based static modeling, or supporting development of static models, is a must.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both Spanish and English within a cross-functional team, management and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in batch and horizontal drilling operations, & plug & perf, multistage fracking and coil tubing operations.

  • Demonstrated strong geologic skills with the ability to integrate seismic, well log, and engineering data and to assess, manage and mitigate uncertainty in subsurface interpretations.

  • Important skill sets include subsurface mapping, reservoir characterization, petrophysical analysis, well planning, OOIP and Reserves estimation & determination, and understanding of reservoir engineering disciplines

  • Knowledgeable in Unconventional Reservoir operations and development is highly desired, understanding basic work requirements for Factory Model, playbooks and well construction cycle.

  • Highly proactive in all areas and able to deliver high quality products on schedule.

  • Strong technical leadership role with proven ability to work with partners.
