Chevron Corporation Health Environment and Safety Intern in Calgary, Alberta

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position through February 28th, 2020 at 11:59p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).

Chevron Canada Resources is currently seeking a HES Intern (4 months) to join the Canadian Business Unit Health Environment and Safety Team. This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and will report to the Team Lead, Environment. The successful candidate will support the HES Field Leaders in areas of fatality prevention, learning of past events, risk awareness and development of safe operating procedures. The position will provide technical assistance and support environmental compliance activities, prepare/create documents, reports, presentations and update HES folders.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Work with various HES Field Leaders to support field activities in the Canadian Business Unit:

  • Drilling and Completions; Facility Engineering and Construction, Production Operations, Major Projects.

  • Areas of support include fatality prevention, learning of past events, risk awareness and development.

  • Assist in the support/development local safety/operating procedures.

  • Support of environmental compliance activities.

  • Assist in any required incident investigations & follow up.

  • Coordinate HES events (i.e. HES training, Safety Week, etc.).

  • Prepare/create documents, reports and presentations.

  • Maintain / update HES folders, statistics as required.

  • Provide Health, Environment & Safety (HES) technical assistance and recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Perform support tasks for HES Field Support personnel.

Required qualifications:

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree, a post-secondary diploma or a 2-year program in Health, Safety and Environment, Occupations Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • Good communication, leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong work ethic with internal drive to succeed.

  • Strong computer applications knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous oil and gas related experience is an asset.

  • Demonstrated high level of academic performance.

Relocation Options:

Relocation may be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
