We operate 100,000 barrels per day refinery in Milnerton, Cape Town, that produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gas, fuel oil, paving asphalt and other products. Chevron South Africa also has interests in a lubricant oil manufacturing plant in Durban and maintains a laboratory and blending plant there.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Accountable for the development and delivery of targeted results within the Chevron South Africa (CSA) HR business plan
Responsible for CSA HR operations including general HR business partnering, labour relations, recruitment, payroll and benefit administration, transformation with specific reference to employment equity and skills development and learning and development
Reporting line authority for the South African HR Team
Strategic monitoring of staffing and CSA HR policy to improve business performance
Advocate and direct all people development and governance initiatives
Represent HR on the CSA Business Leadership team and Personnel Development Committee
Advisor and HR Business Partner to CSA Leadership in all key HR matters and organisational capability decisions
Review and coordinate the implementation of new processes and policies and manage special HR projects
Provide policy counsel/interpretation/implementation regarding HR matters
Interface with legal and regulatory agencies and unions on HR related matters
Direct CSA in policy and benefit reviews
Active role in the management of the company retirement funds as an employer appointed Trustee on both funds
Ensure workforce data maintenance, management reporting and analysis in support of strategic CSA HR programs
Coordinate and monitor relationships with external HR service providers
Drive compliance according to set standards
Advise on and implement total remuneration Programs
Ensure the implementation of CSA employment equity and skills development processes and performance against employment equity plans
Relevant HR Manager experience, greater periods of exposure and experience will be deemed advantageous
Relevant HR degree or similar qualification
Proven ability to set direction in HR strategy and deliver results
A sound knowledge of HR best practices
Proven capability in managing organisational and culture change
Prior supervisory experience at managerial level with demonstrated ability to lead and inspire
Ability to partner with and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels in the organization, including Executive Leadership and CSA Board level
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
Proficient in the legislative framework applicable to the South African labour market
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
Experience within the Petro-Chemical, Retail or Manufacturing industry
Post Graduate qualification in Human Resources or related field
Proven experience in organised labour environments
A proven track record in managing employment equity and skills development in line with the legislative framework
Relocation may be considered within Chevron South Africa parameters but this position is not expat eligible.
