Come join our IT Engineering Department where we are managing the talent to drive Chevron's Digital Transformation. We are seeking a practicing Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who is also a dynamic people leader for the position of Sub-Chapter head for Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), that will help us grow and apply technical skills across Chevron.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Develop people and build functional expertise in the specialty of Site Reliability Engineering, including coaching, mentoring, managing performance, identifying development opportunities, recruiting/talent sourcing, and building trust within the chapter
Build/grow technical skills of chapter members to ensure people have the right skills to deliver on digital platform priorities now and in the future
Develop and evangelize best practices in the areas of Site Reliability Engineering to maximize enterprise value. Provide global guidance on standards and guardrails
Understand Digital Platform requirements to staff the right resources at the right time, managing job assignments of resources to digital platforms and product lines (e.g., Subsurface and IT Foundation)
Coordinate with digital platforms/product lines and Software Engineering chapter to ensure holistic approach to SRE competency development, job assignments, coaching and training
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
Proven leader of diverse and highly technical teams, growing capabilities, coaching, and managing performance
Experience with on-prem as well as AZURE cloud, monitoring, network availability and latency, application performance and efficiency, data storage, change management, emergency response, demand forecast and capacity planning
Proficiency in software development life cycle from design, develop, testing, CI/CD pipeline for release/deployment, and maintenance of application solutions via effective troubleshooting
Proficiency in SAFe Agile, Azure DevOps best practices and scrum ceremonies
Knowledge of Service Level terminology: SLO, SLI, and SLA definitions, eliminating toil via automation, error budgets
Knowledge and experience with Visual Studio .NET, Python, Ansible, GitHub, Java, PowerShell, Postman, Selenium
Knowledge of SQL and/or Oracle Database, Active Directory, Authentication, API Integration, process automation, system and network architecture
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Observability setup with Microsoft Azure Monitor, ALA or Splunk and ServiceNow
Experienced in leading Major Incident Management bridge, postmortem, and retrospective for reliability and resilience design
Experienced in a cloud stack and leveraging cloud architecture, applying site reliability principles and/or demonstrating sensitivity to operational concerns
Skilled in process efficiency mapping and simplicity
Familiarity with workflows and applications used in the Oil & Gas industry
Familiarity with public cloud compute and storage resource orchestration
Relocation will not be considered.
