Chevron Corporation Time Administrator in El Segundo, California
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Payroll, Time Administrator located in El Segundo, California until January 25th, 2021.
The successful candidate must be self-motivated, work independently with little work direction, quickly adapt to changing priorities, and display strong customer service skills. This position also requires the ability to discreetly and routinely handle confidential information. Business knowledge and/or experience working with Chevron systems are highly desirable.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Functions as a knowledgeable resource on payroll policy and procedures. Primary point of contact for employees and managers questions with regards to time/pay policies and guidelines.
Consults on payroll policy as it relates to company policy and the union contract. Investigates and solves various problems involving incorrect checks, taxes, garnishments, electronic fund transfers, etc.
Performs pre/post pay close audits and make necessary corrections to timesheets to align with company policy and union contract. Advises supervisors and managers where improper coding has been used.
Trains and educates supervisors on proper payroll coding, procedures, and practices to ensure highest payroll quality.
Processes total remunerations for employee reimbursements.
Coordinates with various departments (Corp. Payroll, Disability Management Group, Corp. Disability, etc.) to resolve employee time/pay issues and tracking status of disability cases as required. Manages short term employee disability time coding.
Maintains materials to document payroll policy, procedures and local practices in compliance with record retention policy.
Assist with data maintenance responsibilities including, but not limited to, Workday and MSS transactions and reporting needs. Coordinate and communicate with business and HRBP as needed.
Update the HR legal board (both online and hard copy) when necessary using Microsoft Expressions Web.
Provide administrative and other support to HR team as required.
2+ years of experience in a payroll role.
Intermediate/advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and contribute as a team player.
Communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all levels of employees and managers.
Strong attention to detail; ability to multitask and produce high quality output with minimal errors in appropriate timeframes.
Demonstrated trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with SAP and Workday for time & pay. Familiarity with state and federal wage and hour law and regulations.
Payroll experience for large employee population preferred
Experience in a refinery or related industrial environment.
Experience working in a represented union labor environment.
Relocation will not be considered.
