Chevron Corporation Operator in Geismar, Louisiana
Reporting to the Operations Shift Supervisor, this position is responsible to operate, monitor, adjust and maintain plant equipment and process variables to optimize production in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines. This position requires flexibility in job responsibilities to support various aspects of operations. All operators are expected to be able to perform all job tasks.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Operate plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation of the plant according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines. This includes proper adjustments of operating conditions, process troubleshooting and close communication with the Board Operator, Operations Shift Supervisor, all other outside operators and Maintenance personnel
Safely perform plant startup, shutdown, and plant emergency activities
Notify the Operations Shift Supervisor of abnormal operating situations and equipment malfunctions affecting safe and/or efficient plant operation
Develop, update and execute operations procedures, hazardous energy isolation sheets, operator rounds, etc.
Conduct regular equipment checks, performing detailed process troubleshooting as required
Maintain equipment by conducting preventative maintenance including regular equipment checks, troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, providing feedback to Maintenance, entering quality work orders, preparing equipment for maintenance and preparing area for maintenance
Ensure the safety of personnel working within the assigned area and ensure Personal Protective Equipment and other plant policies and procedures are followed at all times
Follow all safety guidelines regulated by REG, OSHA, or other regulatory agencies
Support the development, implementation, and coordination of the operator training and qualification process to ensure compliance with process safety management standards
Support process safety management systems including, but not limited to, management of change, process hazard analysis, process safety information, mechanical integrity program and work permitting process to ensure compliance with process safety management standards
Support the issuing of all safe work permits pertaining to routine maintenance activities, turnaround work and/or other non-routine work
Monitor and continually improve quality control in all aspects of plant operation
Make recommendation on improving production efficiency at the plant and assist in the implementation of such recommendations
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate is required
Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Process Technology degree
Ability to work independently, or as part of a team
Ability to coach, mentor, train and inspire operators
Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines
Ability to support Maintenance to ensure effective and efficient Schedule adherence
Ability to work efficiently and safely under stress
Ability to read and understand plant P&ID’s
Ability to operate office software and effectively use e-mail
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
Working knowledge of feedstock and renewable diesel processing
Knowledge of arithmetic and its application
Ability to distinguish colors
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to write standard operating procedures and training material content
Be available for work and overtime as required
Provide contact information to customers on an as needed basis for official business purposes
Strong leadership and communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to motivate and influence others
Understand complex technical operating environment, coordinating of daily objectives and setting priorities to achieve daily production plan
Must have strong scheduling skills as well as managing the training, vacation and overtime of the Unit Operators
Must be a self-starter with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver on aggressive timelines in operations environment
Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work closely with others at various levels / across a multitude of business units
Strong commitment to environment, health & safety and ability to lead by example
This job also requires the following: working at heights, being around moving machinery and vehicles, driving automotive equipment, and wearing personal protective equipment (respiratory protective equipment, mask, face shield, hard hat, gloves, acid/base resistant clothing, goggles, safety glasses, earplugs, etc.), ability to lift at least 50lbs., and ability to tolerate extended periods of physical effort.
