Chevron Corporation Procurement and Materials Management Supervisor in Geismar, Louisiana
Manages incoming goods and materials (e.g. inspection, quality control, and documentation) and any returns. Ensures that materials are unloaded/loaded, stored, and moved safely. Ensures proper identification, storage, and preservation of materials under control or oversight by Company. Maintains appropriate levels of inventory, including revolving stock and critical spares. Documents material quantities and descriptions whether stock or transit, including cycle counting and related physical-to-record reconciliation as required by corporate standards.
Manages group and employee work to align with corporate/department objectives. Direct reports are typically individual contributors.
The purpose of the Procurement and Material Management (P&MM) Supervisor is to support the Geismar Facility team in the continued development of, improvement, and compliance of the facilities Reliability processes/ program. The role will oversee all warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving and storing of material, equipment, merchandise and supplies. Ensures required maintenance materials, chemical additives, lubricants and general supplies are easily accessible and/or delivered when required. Supervises procurement and material management staff to meet facility needs. This position is also responsible for ensuring the material management facilities are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
Procurement Key Accountabilities:
Leads the procurement activities at the facility, implementing standard business work processes as they relate to buying goods and services, and materials management, in alignment with corporate strategies. Leverages best practices, shares lessons learned and implements changes to enable continuous improvement.
Manages buying activity to ensure alignment of ordering, materials tracking and expediting, returns and over/short/damage claims management activities with refinery and functional priorities.
Monitors team performance to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Networks within Chevron Procurement/Suplpy Chain Management function to drive standardization of procurement processes, systems utilization, and compliance.
Warehousing Key Accountabilities:
Oversee operations of main warehouse, satellite warehouses, bulk storage area, capital project lay-down area, and temporary storage for routine maintenance, projects, and turnarounds.
Ensure employee compliance with all safety and environmental regulations for company warehousing function, for an incident-free workplace.
Manage the control of company warehouse inventory and-or third-party inventories using an ERP system or other digital tools. Arranges for periodic and special inventory counts and reconciles book inventories with physical count. Oversees inventory transactions to include daily receipts, and placement of warehouse asset inventory including accurate daily documentation of all material activity.
Ensure warehouse functions are carried out in compliance with Company policies, including SOX and other internal controls.
Supervises shipping and receiving functions to ensure proper placement, distribution, and control of incoming and outgoing materials, including those items ordered as maintenance material not included in warehouse inventories.
Coordinate materials requirement planning by establishing minimum and maximum inventory levels, determining supplier stock levels, promoting standardizations.
Supervises, sponsors, and follows Kitting and Staging process that allows for the right parts to be available for maintenance at the right time.
Supervises and adheres to Emergency/Urgent Materials process to ensure that materials needed for breakdowns is available.
Manages investment recovery process, including executing returns to vendor, surplus re-use or sale of scrap, obsolete and surplus materials.
Develops and recommends improvements in current office and warehouse practices to promote efficiency, faster service, and lower costs.
Analyzes inventory reports and surplus stock lists, coordinates with Operations and Maintenance departments to determine need for improvement in control methods, and directs the initiation of corrective measures to restore satisfactory inventory balance.
Collaborate with Supplier representatives regarding deliveries, issue resolution, and Return Material Authorizations.
Oversee the repair of critical spare parts and equipment, working with repair shops to authorize repair work and track progress.
Other frequent duties:
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering and operations management on Procurement planning and alignment.
