Chevron Corporation Reliability Engineer in Geismar, Louisiana
Establishes processes that prevent or reduce the likelihood/frequency of failures. Develops reliability plans and preventive maintenance programs to minimize recurring performance issues. Performs Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for reliability issues . Applies Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and/or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to reliability activities Uses reliability modeling and Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) in combination with engineering analysis to design equipment or recommend maintenance methods for improvement.
Supports medium sized clients/customers and makes significant contributions to more complex projects under periodic supervision. General knowledge of the work function and Chevron’s practices.

POSITION PURPOSE:
The position is responsible for improving mechanical and fixed equipment reliability. This position will use Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices including API, NFPA, and other recognized standards to support the reliability and mechanical integrity program. Additional responsibilities include the implementation and use of quality assurance best practices for the Geismar Expansion and enrollment of all new equipment into the mechanical integrity and reliability processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Geismar Expansion Project
- Ensure equipment preservation for Geismar Train B (GTB) equipment.
Mechanical Reliability
Conduct criticality sessions, Root cause analysis, and Reliability Centered Maintenance analysis and implement actions as needed.
Work with production staff to identify and solve mechanical and fixed equipment bad actors.
Continue the “ready for operations” work from GTB and ensure continued implementation from studies.
Provide maintenance input to Capital project planning, MOC’s, PHA’s etc.
Computerized Maintenance Management System expert user and team coach and reporting metrics to support reliability efforts.
Provides reliability expertise to area business units to identify and prioritize reliability gaps, using reliability tools and processes to improve asset performance.
Leverages historical operation, reliability, and maintenance data for use in analytical tools and studies to improve asset performance.
Demonstrates fluency in the application and use of reliability tools and analytical processes.
Participates in turnaround planning, investigations during execution, and look-back studies.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred Education: 4-year Bachelor’s degree – Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years of experience in a reliability or maintenance engineering role in a manufacturing or chemical processing industry.
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem solving skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
Project Management Skills
JD Edwards CAM, Vibration Analysis, Infrared analysis, Ultrasound analysis, Oil analysis, CMRP or CRL certification, API 653, API 510, API 570 certifications and experience with mechanical integrity is a plus.
