The supervisor legal assistants position will have direct supervisory responsibility for Houston-based legal assistants who support Corporation Law, Law Administration and Upstream Law. This position not only supervises 12 legal assistants but also plays an integral role in administering compliance and OE processes and acts as a knowledge resource throughout the Law Function. Additionally, this position has direct administrative responsibility for operation of two complete and several partial floors in the downtown Houston area that houses approximately 150 Law team members, including more than 70 attorneys. To be successful in the role, the individual must be adept at multi-tasking, exhibit strong leadership, communicate effectively, utilize influencing skills, and demonstrate an ability to manage multiple demands and work issues.


Provides supervisory support to Corporation Law Legal Assistants located in Houston, TX and supports compliance and OE processes including but not limited to:

  • Coordinating, organizing and planning the workload of the Corporation Law legal assistants.

  • Supervisory responsibility for Corporation Law legal assistants including training, coaching, performance management, career development, and ranking and salary administration

  • Partnering with Corporation Law and Law Administration managers as well as Law Function leadership teams to standardize and streamline administrative processes, share best practices, increase organizational capability, promote teamwork and assess performance.

  • Overall leadership responsibility for allocation of work across the team of legal assistants.

  • Communicating compliance and OE/HES training requirements and monitoring, tracking and tracing for completion.

  • Serving as SharePoint owner and power user of various legal assistant related sites, information steward for Group Lifecycle and Access Management (GLAM) managed distribution lists and SharePoint sites, and approver of Law managed secured conference rooms in Houston.

  • Serving as the principal representative from the Law Function responsible for planning and executing broad office space area assignments for legal teams as well as the assignment of individual offices to attorneys and Law staff.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Compliance/OE related work experience.
