Chevron Credit Analyst

This is a credit analyst role supporting the Supply & Trade (S&T) business as part of the Credit & Risk Control Team. This position is co-located with S&T on the trading floor to provide credit support and related independent analysis and operates under the direction of Corporate Treasury. S&T buys, sells, and supplies crude oil, refined products, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and liquified natural gas to support Chevron’s crude and gas production operations and its refining and marketing network. The Credit team’s primary responsibility is to provide credit support by ensuring appropriate credit lines are established, daily monitoring of credit exposures, securing and managing collateral requirements, providing guidance on credit terms in commercial agreements, and monitoring payments. This position works closely with cross functional teams across the organization.

Interest in acting as a credit subject matter expert with an expectation to develop in role over a number of years.

Hybrid work model: three days in office, two days remote

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Perform financial analysis to ensure appropriate customer lines of credit are established

  • Prepare recommendations for credit line approvals including analysis, trends and business rationale and liaise with Buenos Aires Shared Service Center (BASSC) Credit Hub as needed

  • Monitor, control, and report daily credit exposure within established tolerances, ensuring credit systems are aligned. Manage the credit hold process

  • Negotiate, secure, and manage collateral and credit support with customers and liaise with the BASSC Credit team as needed

  • Provide credit provision guidance on commercial agreements with Legal support as needed

  • Liaise with BASSC Credit Hub and Finance team on unpaid invoices

  • Provide back up support for other credit analysts

  • Monitor market intelligence for customer and industry changes requiring credit action

  • Build collaborative relationships across organization and external customers

  • Work with regional credit teams (Houston, London, Singapore) and IT on systems and initiatives for global alignment

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

  • 3+ years of relevant credit experience, including exposure monitoring and financial statement analysis to assess creditworthiness

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to analyze data and provide insightful analysis, including financial statement analysis, that illustrates key business and credit drivers to make high quality risk decisions

  • Must be able to develop and maintain effective relationships with peers, other departments and functions

  • Possess strong communication skills

  • Proactively offers and shares their unique skills, knowledge, and experience for the benefit of the team

  • Demonstrates inclusive and collaborative work behaviors

  • Ability to work proficiently in a fast paced, open concept trading floor environment

  • Prior credit experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Demonstrated aptitude to quickly learn new tools & system functionality

  • Ability to handle multiple job responsibilities, set priorities, maintain a high level of accomplishment, and implement process improvements.

  • Ability to effectively interact with colleagues and management, providing clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner to stakeholders.

  • Experience with SRA trading system

  • Demonstrated experience with accounting software (SAP) and Microsoft Office 365, including intermediate and advanced Excel, PowerApps and Power BI.

  • Strong commitment to maintaining collaborative and cross-functional working relationships with internal partners and external customers
