The U.S. Light Distillates (Naphtha/Gasoline) trader is under Product Supply & Trading (PSAT) and is accountable for all supply and trading activities (physical and paper) as it relates to all grades and components of Naphtha and Gasoline system trading, optimization, and trading for profit in the Americas with a primary focus in the USGC. The trader is also responsible for connecting the regional activity into the global clean products team in Asia, Latin America, and Europe. This role actively manages the optimal placement of equity production, managing tankage positions, developing a regional light distillate (Naphtha and Gasoline) business, integration with global flows and managing financial trading positions. This job will interact with different groups within Chevron including Operations, Contracts, Credit, Risk Control and others, always taking into account enterprise value.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Trades in both physical and financial commodities in the international and or U.S. Gulf Coast domestic Naphtha and Gasoline trading markets, both spot and term, in pursuit of both asset optimization and trading for profit.
Business development and origination focusing on building flow, optimization and trading around it.
Develops trading strategies, initiates and manages physical and financial positions for profit, focuses on asset optimization, and manages price exposure of trading positions.
Develop regional trading Naphtha business and arbitrage flows as part of the global Naphtha commodity team.
Identifies and executes on opportunities to capture enterprise value from buying, selling and blending of Naphtha and Gasoline products, components and blend stocks.
Accountable for delivering earnings, and managing trading positions.
Utilizes the company's position and assets to leverage market opportunities and increase enterprise earnings.
Understands trading tools and methodology in order to collaborate with analysts to model and evaluate market conditions and supply and trading scenarios.
3+ years of trading experience in light distillates (Naphtha and/or Gasolines).
Knowledge of multiple commodities in different regions, or globally, with experience in working arbitrage flows.
Ability to develop trading strategies for short to long term time horizons inter-regionally for physical and financial commodities in pursuit of system optimization and trading for profit.
Ability to understand market alternatives and utilize that knowledge to make decisions in the best interest of the enterprise.
Strong leadership, teamwork, communication and analytical skills.
Knowledge of the role of supply and trading on a large corporate scale.
Strong entrepreneurial and negotiation skills.
Understands commodity risk and reward concepts and evaluation techniques.
Understands the importance of measuring, managing, and reporting basis risk and financial exposures.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Chemical Engineering.
2+ years of trading, blending, operations or analytical experience.
Experience in business origination and development.
