Chevron Corporation Pipeline Regulatory Compliance Specialist in Houston, Texas
Provides technical guidance on a wide range of legislative, regulatory, and assurance matters. Reviews and comments on proposed legislation and regulations and develops policy position documents for leadership. Responds to inquiries by government entities. Monitors and manages the verification of certifications and permits.
Supports major customers/clients and leads projects of medium scope and complexity under limited supervision. Detailed knowledge of most aspects of the work function.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Pipeline Regulatory Compliance Specialist through September 28th at 11:59 p.m. Central Time
As a Pipeline Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will partner with Operations and Functional Leaders to assure to manage the compliance requirements for pipeline safety regulations. In this role, you will mentor all levels of the organization, providing coaching and regulatory guidance to build the organization’s compliance fluency. You’ll interpret newly proposed rules, lead compliance audits, perform jurisdictional assessments, and submit regulatory reports. While leading high value initiatives and projects, you’ll have the opportunity to expand the company’s organizational capabilities and help achieve best-in-class compliance performance.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of proven expertise in 49 CFR 190-199 pipeline safety codes, rules, and standards. This includes leading state and federal pipeline safety audits and inspections, developing audit corrective action plans and written responses to external agencies, and filing state and federal reports and permits.
Experience interpreting new PHSMA regulations and determining their impacts to pipeline operations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively plan, schedule and execute work.
Experience working through trade associations to influence legislation.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams of up to 20 members remotely and in person.
Demonstrated ability to read, edit, compose, and modify regulatory documents in an efficient, effective manner.
Proficient at managing engagements with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
Experience communicating to all levels of an organization, both verbally and in writing.
Strong technical writing skills.
Fluent in the use of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Education: Bachelor's (B.S.) degree from an accredited university is preferred; Experience will be considered in lieu of degree
Experience: Experience working with the pipeline safety divisions of the Texas Railroad Commission (TRRC), California Office of State Fire Marshall (OSFM), Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LADNR), or U.S. Dept. of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) a plus.
Travel: Up to 20% travel within the U.S.
