The Principal GHG Consultant within the Chevron Technical Center (CTC) Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) organization plays a critical role, in partnership with Chevron’s Energy Transition group and Finance function, in positioning Chevron as a leader in transparency. This position is responsible for serving as Chevron’s technical expert on all aspects of GHG emissions accounting and reporting, and leading further improvements in enterprise GHG emissions data integrity and timely reporting, with the potential to extend this expertise longer term to other key sustainability metrics. This is an opportunity to directly impact Chevron’s journey towards a lower carbon future.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

• Serve as company’s technical expert on all aspects of GHG emissions accounting and reporting, and verification.

• Advise management on emerging industry best practices, and potential new global reporting standards/rules.

• Lead further improvements in enterprise GHG emissions data integrity, timely reporting and data transparency.

• Own Chevron’s GHG Reporting Protocol, ensuring Protocol continues to align with industry best practice, and enables compliance with potential new global reporting standards/rules.

• Represent Chevron and potentially chair or co-chair various industry groups (e.g., IPIECA, API, WBCSD groups) involved in defining industry best practice in carbon accounting and reporting.

• Support annual third-party verification of corporate GHG emissions inventory.

• Extend expertise in GHG emissions accounting, reporting and verification to other key sustainability metrics.

Skills:

• Technical Skills: Previous experience in managing corporate GHG inventories and/or conducting third-party GHG audits for large oil and gas, and/or other energy companies. Significant expertise in GHG emissions sources common to the oil and gas industry, industry best practice guidelines for GHG accounting and reporting, and mandatory GHG reporting programs (e.g., EPA GHGRP). Experience in product lifecycle analysis (LCA) a plus.

• Leadership: Demonstrated strategic thinker and effective program manager. Must be able to influence internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to communicate concisely and effectively in all directions.

• Teamwork: Proven track record of building positive working relationships in all directions and across all functions.

• Business Acumen: Ability to understand broader implications of different technical carbon accounting approaches.

Required Qualifications:

• BS in civil, chemical or environmental engineering, or environmental science required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of 12-15 years’ experience working in GHG emissions reporting and/or verification strongly preferred.

• Postgraduate degree in engineering, or business administration or similar highly desirable.
