As the Trading Product Line Architect, you have an opportunity to leverage and deploy technologies in a fast-paced environment, monetizing Chevron's assets and making a real impact on the bottom-line. Currently there is a focus on modernization, replacement of credit system, evaluation of the trading system landscape and incorporation of lower carbon goals. The Architect will work across multiple teams to deliver a set of business capabilities as technical services. This role requires understanding of Trading businesses and technical capabilities required to support the enterprise involving all aspects of application transformation (e.g., replacing / modernization, rationalization, etc.). These patterns need to be well understood along with modern deployment techniques (SaaS, PaaS, local hosting, etc.). Will also need to apply the appropriate decision-making criteria (technical / business / cost / security) and with oversight of the teams performing the actual work. Works with Global Advisors and Product Owners, providing technical oversight and engagement with the Agile teams to deliver a set of business capabilities

This position has the following responsibilities:

  • Working with engineers on multiple Trading teams to architect & deliver solutions within the Sales & Product Management Digital Platform.

  • Conducting Vendor evaluations and Software Engineering criteria (i.e., not just against Feature requirements) and platform fit.

  • Managing multiple initiatives / small teams

  • Be an influential leader, manage and develop the technical competencies as a leader, providing guidance on projects / programs within the platform

  • Advocate solid software development best practices in the team covering testing, modularity, scalability, observability, and integration

  • Seen as a technical lead, coaches software engineers and builds engineering discipline, code reviews etc.

  • Engages in hands on coding to help the team develop common services that can be used across multiple products.

  • Oversees the modernization and migration of applications to cloud. Coaches and guides the teams on continuous integration and automated deployment for product.

  • Maintain and communicate external IT dependencies while ensuring that external stakeholders are delivering against commitments.


  • 5+ years of work experience as Architect or Technical Lead (Oil & Gas preferred)

  • Experience implementing Trading solutions on ION RightAngle, ION Endur, Salesforce, Global Market Risk, Credit and Compliance tools (all prefer but not required)

  • Experience in defining a technology strategy that supports the business strategic goals, optimizing the long-term value attainment and a reduction of technical debt required

  • Knowledge of Upstream, Midstream & Downstream business workflows is preferred

  • Knowledge of commercial and trading business processes is preferred


  • Experience managing a large suite of applications

  • Experience with modernizing and migrating applications to strategic architectures

  • Hands-on working experience with architecture tools and technologies

  • IT Infrastructure and Cloud application development and hosting

  • Demonstrated proficiency in .Net, C#, SQL, Open API and Azure is preferred.

  • Experience in collaborating and influencing cross-functional teams

  • Excellent communication skills - should be able to articulate complex technical data that is easily understandable by a wide variety audience like junior technical resources, business partners, non-IT stakeholders

  • Demonstrated leadership Skills

  • Experienced working with Agile Frameworks, Scrum, and DevOps.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or in any engineering field required.
