We are seeking a dynamic team player with razor focus on system reliability for our Site Reliability Engineer position to help us achieve our goal of higher returns and lower carbon.

High- Level Job Description:

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) improves and protects the software and systems behind all of organization’s IT services, including management of scalability, availability, latency, performance, security, and capacity, and delivering of software faster, better, and cheaper. From designing & maintaining CI/CD Pipelines in order to build the next generation of IT applications on cloud native platforms, the SRE’s create delighted customers and product innovation by continuous improvement of operational support.

The IT Operations Center serves to drive actions to improve reliability of IT Services, with a focus on Tier 0&1 services. Join the team and help improve and protect the software and systems behind Chevrons IT services. You will have the opportunity to work with product line teams across the IT Function. Responsibilities include management of scalability, availability, latency, performance, security, and capacity. You will use your technical expertise to monitor alerts and events, troubleshoot incidents and address remediation so delivery of solutions are reliable, secure, cost efficient and responsive. You will help lead continuous improvement of operational support; driving towards data driven, self-healing operations.

Responsibilities for ITOC - Site Reliability Engineers include:

  • Use broad full-stack knowledge and experience for proactive incident prevention

  • Improve reliability through utilization of data analytics to proactively identify problem areas

  • Performance consulting and modelling on existing applications, or new IT Services or applications to be put into production.

  • Tier 0/1 service architectural analysis to ensure appropriate design and safeguards.

  • Analytics on IT reliability and Incidents.

  • Insights and consulting to IT Service Delivery teams on reliability, Incidents, and drive necessary changes.

  • Analysis of full stack technologies implemented to identify improvements for reliability, performance, and reduced cost

  • Serve as lead technical resource during a major incident management response

  • Manage and support Major Incidents RCA actions and track to closure.

  • Assist delivery team in resolving the Major Incidents and conduct root cause analysis.

  • Assist delivery team in implementing the fixes from root cause analysis.

  • Develop proactive and automated resolution and maintenance opportunities

  • Make decisions on scenarios that are not currently covered by existing processes

  • Troubleshoot end to end service from desktop to end user application

  • Find opportunities to avoid future issues by improving logging and creating automated resolutions based on triggers

  • Use Ansible and similar platforms, develop automation to proactively manage the hosting infrastructure, run ad-hoc commands and playbooks to automate tasks

  • Prepare Technology Reliability Engineers to handle any issue encountered, regardless of technology involved

  • Application of new and existing technologies to improve the service reliability

  • Provide consultations for Agile teams on enhance build-in-quality based on Chevron’s infrastructure and available technical stacks

  • Technical Skills:

  • Leading SRE best practices

  • Implement & Maintain Systems

  • Microsoft Azure Training / Certification

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/exams/az-103) (Exam AZ-103/AZ-104)

  • Azure Developer Associate (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/browse/?term=204) (Exam AZ-203/204)

  • Programming or scripting:

  • Knowledge or experience in any of the following:

  • Ansible, Phyton, Powershell , Shell Scripting KQL, C#, Java, MySQL

  • .NET Framework/.NET Core/Git

  • ADO, CI/CD pipeline

  • Automated testing with Selenium (training or equiv. load testing experience)

  • MS SQL Server Indexing and Performance Management

  • Infrastructure Experience/Certification

  • Network (CCNA, JNCP, ACE )

  • Security (PCCSA, CISSP) preferred

  • Basic Linux / Unix Administration - Basic

  • Intermediate/Advanced Windows Server Administration
