Chevron Corporation Mechanical Systems Technician in North Salt Lake, Utah

Analyzer Mechanic

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Mechanical Systems Technician located in Salt Lake City, Utah through August 17, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on gas chromatographs, continuous emissions monitoring systems, process analytical equipment, process instrumentation and measurement equipment

  • Installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of sample conditioning systems.

  • Have a working knowledge of distributed control system and programmable logic controllers

  • Take a lead role in identifying and troubleshooting complex analytical equipment problems and work with engineering developing technically sound solutions

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and maintenance practices using analytical and problem solving skills

  • Familiar with state and federal EPA requirement and regulations

  • Familiar with state and local air district requirement and regulations

  • Other miscellaneous instrument and electrical system work as required

  • Installation, calibration, troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation, measurement equipment

  • The Analyzer Mechanic may assist with troubleshoot and make mechanical repairs to: process control loops, displacer and DP type level transmitters, control valves, I/P transducers, electronic transmitters, RTD’s and thermocouples, Control systems

  • Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams, one-line diagrams, loop diagrams, schematics, and ladder logic diagrams

  • Maintain awareness of the operating department priorities, needs, and strategies

  • Use of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word

  • Remain current on all trade practices, industry policies, and regulations

  • The position works with other Maintenance crafts, Reliability, Operations and Engineering on a daily basis

  • The position will typically work a 4x10 dayshift work schedule. Typical shifts are M-Th or T-F but can vary based on work needs. Occasional shift work is required.

  • The position may also require work outside regular shifts when needed

  • Work associated with this position is done outdoors year-round

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a related industry, or an apprenticeship or certificate from a trade or technical school, with experience

  • This is a safety sensitive position - all applicants must pass pre-employment physical examinations, drug screen, and background security checks.

  • Must have a proven safety record and be familiar with OSHA requirements for the trade

  • Must pass online pre-employment testing process*

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of direct experience working in a refinery and/or chemical industry

  • An Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation and Controls.

  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code

  • Experience working with and/or knowledge of: Thermox Oxygen Analyzer, Ametek Gas Analyzer, electrical drawings

  • Class 1 Division 1 and 2 requirements, low and medium voltage distribution systems. 480 and 4160 three-phase systems

  • 120, 240, 480, and 4160 volt motor control circuits, three-phase induction motors

Relocation Options:

Relocation is not available for external candidates but will be considered for current Chevron employees.
