Instrumentation and Electrical Maintenance Mechanics must be able to construct and support electronic, electrical, and instrument equipment and systems that include 4-20 mA current loops, smart transmitters, thermocouple monitoring systems, vibration monitoring systems, process alarms and controls, programmable logic controllers, Foundation Field Buss, pneumatic instrumentation systems, electrical distribution systems, electrical motor control systems. Candidates will be required to successfully demonstrate the ability to climb heights up to 200 feet and successfully satisfy confined space entry testing. Successful candidates will be expected to progress through the Pascagoula Formal Maintenance Training Program within 3 years of their hire date.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Performing a variety of field and shop work on electrical and instrument maintenance, project and construction assignments.
Installing, troubleshooting and supporting electronic, electrical, and instrument equipment and systems that include 4-20 mA current loops, smart transmitters, thermocouple monitoring systems, vibration monitoring systems, process alarms and controls, programmable logic controllers, Foundation Field Buss, pneumatic instrumentation systems, electrical distribution systems, and electrical motor control systems.
Performing other incidental craft work, e.g., fabrication, machinery, etc. in order to complete job.
Organizing, planning and executing daily work assignments.
Following routine duties, safe work practices and demonstrating safe work behaviors.
Working with other functional departments such as Reliability, Operations and Engineering on a daily basis.
The position will typically work a 4x10 dayshift work schedule.
Typical shifts are Monday – Thursday, but can vary based on work needs.
Occasional shift work and overtime is required. The position can also be called out after normal work hours as needed.
Work associated with this position is typically done outdoors year-round.
This position requires driving on a routine basis.
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
A valid Driver’s License
Basic computer skills
2 years work experience (military service is considered work experience) or completed an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Instrumentation and Controls from the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Successful completion of an Internship at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery as an Instrument & Electrical Intern or formalized apprenticeship training program.
Relevant instrumentation or electrical trade school endorsed by the Central Gulf Industrial Alliance (CGIA), military or formalized training program graduate.
Completed apprenticeship training program
Minimum of 5 years industrial experience in the instrumentation and/or electrical field

Industrial Information Test
Measures the ability to read, understand, and use information in graphs, charts, tables, and written passages to solve problems.
Mechanical Aptitude Assessment
Measures the ability to apply general mechanical principles to understand and solve problem situations.
Workplace Attitude and Behavior Inventory
Measures personal characteristics important to success in the job applied for.
You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submittal of your application, at which point you will have 72 hours to complete the on-line assessment. The duration of the assessment is approximately 2 hours. The assessment can also be accessed from your Chevron profile under “Job Management” or via the link sent to your email.
Your assessment score will be valid for 365 days from the day you complete your on-line assessment.
Chevron's tests are focused on industrial aptitudes. However, Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test preparation guides may be helpful in preparation for these tests. Candidates should focus on mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension, understanding information in tables and graphs, and understanding industrial math.
