about the role

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Turbomachinery Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join the team. Reporting to the Turbomachinery Manager this permanent role will be based in Chevron’s new building at One The Esplanade.

We are seeking for an I&C Engineer to provide daily operational support for Gas Turbines and LNG compression equipment across the Gorgon and Wheatstone assets. The ideal candidate will work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and our controls & instrumentation stakeholders to develop procedures and provide regular assessments of the current condition of equipment. They will also respond to anomalies proactively, thus preventing equipment issues and trips.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) following events and facilitate resulting Operations & Maintenance (O&M) improvement processes.

  • Drive trip reduction and reliability improvement process.

  • Manage rotating equipment I&C component obsolesce and control system upgrade requirements to prevent machinery operation interruptions.

  • Own the “Management of Change” process associated with the I&C changes to the turbomachinery to ensure quality and completion timeliness.

  • Provide on-site support during maintenance events or as required.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • Experience working with Gas Turbines and large compression equipment.

  • Proven expertise of GE Mk6e, CCC and Bentley Nevada machinery control systems

  • Demonstrated ability to perform RCA work for complex events and well versed in reliability improvement initiatives.

  • Assumes ownership of issues and brings a ‘can do’ attitude to solving problems.

  • A team player who operates with high integrity and has a desire to share expertise and ideas freely to build capability in others.
