about the role

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Penetration Tester to join the team in Perth reporting to the Principal Cybersecurity Vulnerability Analyst.

As a penetration tester, you will be responsible for safely planning and executing a variety of assessments in both Process Control Networks (PCN) and business environments. This position will allow individuals to gain a depth of knowledge in cybersecurity and vulnerability management, as well as hands-on experience with penetration testing in both business and Industrial Control System (ICS) environments in a Global Fortune 500 company.

Penetration Tester will engage with Business Units across the Chevron enterprise and will travel to global operating locations for select assessments.

Penetration tester will work with the latest cybersecurity tools, develop new capabilities and experience working in PCN/ ICS and business environments and help combat evolving cyber threats.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have skill and/or experience in:

  • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification (strongly preferred)

  • 5+ years of experience (IT information security; prior penetration testing experience strongly preferred)

  • Strong knowledge/experience of various information security technologies (IDS/IPS, HIPS, DLP, firewalls, network engineering, database, etc.)

  • Knowledge of the TCP/IP stack, the OSI model, wireless and industrial protocols, protocol analyzers, traffic capture techniques and image collection

  • Knowledge of common pen testing tools and techniques such as active/passive reconnaissance, vulnerability identification, exploitation, phishing, social engineering and C2 staging & deployment

  • Knowledge of penetration testing frameworks such as Canvas, Metasploit, Cobalt Strike, Empire, or Burp Suite

  • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus, and host/network enumeration tools such as nmap

  • Skilled at computer programming and scripting languages such as bash, python, javascript, C, etc. to facilitate exploitation and other assessment objectives

  • Deep knowledge of IT systems (Firewalls, Networking, Network Segmentation)

  • Skilled as a system administrator, application developer, or programmer

  • Knowledge of MS Windows and/or UNIX/Linux operating systems

  • Skilled in working in a PCN/ICS environment including SCADA, DCS, PLCs, HMIs, and other related OT technologies, ICS communication protocols, and Purdue model architecture

  • Knowledge of virtualization including various hypervisor technologies, virtual networking, disaster recovery (various backup, reconstitution, and VM provisioning tools), virtual server management and access control

  • Ability to interpret and understand complex and rapidly evolving security threats
