Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join the Technical Projects team. Reporting to the Asset Projects Lead, this permanent role will be based in Perth with occasional travel to site as required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and build key relationships that contribute to the delivery of project outcomes and high-class business results through demonstration of the Chevron Way and Chevron Australia’s five leadership behaviours:

  • Set and communicate clear expectations

  • Observe performance and tie behaviour to results via key performance indicators

  • Remove barriers to performance

  • Provide positive and constructive feedback

  • Coach and engage direct reports

  • Responsible for managing the development and execution of small capital projects through Phases 2 to 4, including; development of business plans, cost estimates, study/execution schedules, cost, time and resource estimates, procurement and subcontracting plans, progress monitoring, stakeholder engagement and alignment, production of engineering deliverables, development of key decision sheets/decision support packages, regular and ad-hoc reporting/presentations, management of change (MOC), field implementation and field validation of initiative outcomes

  • Application of appropriate Chevron project management system (CPMS), facility design and construction (FD&C), MOC and capital stewardship principles to ensure decision quality and superior project delivery through all project phases

  • Effectively manage and control change

  • Maintain effective communications with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Turnaround, Technical and Energy Technology Company teams) to assess and minimise the impact of proposed design/procedural modifications, schedule changes, technical interface issues and budget/cost changes

  • Demonstrate the application of human performance in the performance of design, planning and execution of field work

  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

Key skills and experience required:

  • Engineering Degree required (no specific discipline preferred)

  • Minimum 10-15 years of demonstrated experience in project management, design engineering or engineering construction management, with experience in the application of CPMS, FD&C, MOC, capital stewardship and operational excellence principles, ensuring decision quality and superior project execution of Brownfield modifications, in a capital constrained environment, within a complex process facility (major refinery or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment with strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing business priorities, and progress work scopes to agreed outcomes in a timely manner

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results

  • Demonstrated business and commercial acumen, clear understanding of asset priorities and competitive performance targets, and ability to influence diverse stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to develop compelling business cases for Brownfield modifications, in a capital constrained environment, within a complex process facility (major refinery or equivalent)
