Port Arthur Lubricants Plant is the largest facility in the Chevron US Lubricants network and the sole grease manufacturer in North America. Specifically, this role will be expected to support quality assurance for lubricants and grease products for maintaining a First Time Blend Rate of >90% and identify areas of improvement and sustainable actions.

Additionally, this will need to collaborate with the Port Arthur Lubricants Plant’s Operations team and partner with Manufacturing Lab Support for ensuring adherence to quality requirements.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with lab operators and provide support on testing when needed.

  • Blend optimization for the Blending department.

  • Running and recording Calibration Standards on CCS, ICP, Acid Titration, Viscometers, Densitometers, Pour Points, and Flash Points.

  • Analyze off-test products and generate attainable solutions.

  • Drive OOTBIT meetings with operators and supervisors across the department.

  • Collaborate with operations for identifying process improvements.

  • Quality Management Supervisor relief during vacations and days off

  • Perform hand blends for existing and new products and project implementation support.

  • Support the department during quality audits.

  • Respond to product integrity inquiries by searching for and grabbing retains for further testing if needed.

  • Lab equipment upkeep and troubleshooting.

  • Record keeping per retention schedule and ISO certification.

  • Knowledge of formulations, equipment, and department processes.

  • Interact with Blending and Terminaling departments, providing compatibility guidance and formulation troubleshooting.

  • Identify improvement opportunities for the department and help develop a capital plan for new equipment needed.

  • Work as one team with the rest of the PALP departments team to coordinate activities to achieve best-in-class performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years’ experience in quality management

  • Proficient in SAP

  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft products. Leverages software tools such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint

  • Strong self-starter who works without close supervision

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Demonstrates strong teamwork.

  • Communicates in a clear concise, understandable manner both orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related field

  • Lubricants, Base oil or Additive handling experience

Special Considerations:

  • Might require shift work to meet the needs of the company.
