Chevron Corporation Base Oil Laboratory Technician in Richmond, California

Chevron is accepting online applications for the Base Oil Laboratory Technician position through May 26th, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (PDT)

Maintain Base Oil Reference lab, including keeping inventory of Chevron and competitor base oils and providing samples to Chevron Lubricant formulators and 3rd Party customers when requested. Perform some analytic testing of base oils (cold crank simulator, solvent dewaxing, color). Monitor results of base oil tank finals from RLOP, PBOP, and Yeosu and maintain database of qualities. Back up for Base Oil Analytic Unit (BOAU) lab technologist, performing tests in BOAU as needed. Support or lead product quality troubleshooting with special analysis as needed, including sometimes sending samples to 3rd party labs. Perform blends of finished oils as needed to support troubleshooting efforts. Lead special projects to benchmark against competitor oil; examples: ake recommendations on product specifications such as product color or quality guarantees such as compliance with select FDA standards.

Maintain Base Oil Reference lab, provide samples to customers, maintain database of quality trends, support/lead troubleshooting efforts, and lead special projects to benchmark competitor oils.

Required Qualifications:

  • College degree in science or engineering

  • Laboratory experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with base oils, lubricants, or additives

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

International Considerations:

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
