Chevron Corporation HPPC Operator 1 in Richmond, California
Performs laboratory experiments and tests utilizing instructions and/or standard methodology; interprets results and conducts analyses in support of product and process research and development.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of HPPC Operator located in Richmond, CA through November 22nd, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
This role supports operations in the HPPC laboratory within the Experimental Systems Unit in CTC’s Downstream Technology & Services. The Experimental Systems Unit at Chevron's Richmond Technology Center (RTC) supports the scientists, chemists and researchers on site in developing and testing out new processes, catalysts, surfactants and other technologies in the oil and energy fields. The HPPC lab operates 24/7, 365 days a year with operations responsibilities distributed across four rotating crews. In conjunction with researchers from the Applied Technology and Catalysis, Separations and Reactor Science units, this center supports hydrotreating, hydrocracking and base oil operations at Chevron’s wholly owned refineries. The center also provides a full range of hydro processing options (including hydrocracking, Lubes hydro processing and Resid treating and conversion) to support TEMA plus TEMA JV partners as well as Chevron’s JV refining operations in Asia.
The HPPC Operator 1 is responsible for operating safely & reliably, in collaboration with key stakeholders and partners to deliver high-quality data in support of DT&S research and development projects. Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor or Lead Operator, day-to-day responsibilities include:
Operation and troubleshooting of high-temperature, high-pressure hydro processing Research Units
Feed and product sampling
Sample handling and preliminary analyses (e.g. API Gravity, H2S and NH3 content by Draeger measurement)
Minor equipment maintenance and replacement
Operation of utility systems and related equipment in accordance with requests of research scientists, engineers and maintenance teams
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma
Valid Driver's License
3+ years operations experience (lab or plant)
Demonstrated strong OE performance and proficiency in safe work practices.
Strong mechanical aptitude, process equipment and/or instrument technology
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key Chevron colleagues outside their immediate work group.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree, or equivalent in science, technology, mechanical/pipe fitting trade or related field
Fundamental knowledge of process trending applications (e.g. PI Vision, PI Process Book)
Experience in hydro processing operations
Knowledge of pressure systems
Awareness of MOC Process and P&ID fluency
Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint)
Special Considerations:
Work schedule is 12-hour shifts rotating between day shift and graveyard on a refinery operations schedule
Not eligible for hybrid/remote work schedule
Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered.

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $41.54 .
