Overview

Position supervises a team of 10 Plant Support I,E & A engineers, and provides own direct contribution to support an Area Business Unit (ABU) within the refinery. The team is responsible for investigation, analysis, and development of resolutions for opportunities involving equipment or facilities. The team will provide direct technical support for daily operations, turnaround events, small projects, and PSM activities.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

· Manage the performance of the work group:

  • Hold performance planning and review sessions.

  • Supervise, coach and develop work group members.

  • Set clear expectations and set/support individuals’ performance and development plan.

  • Delegate effectively.

  • Be a role model / leader: Inspire, motivate, represent and support team members.

  • Manage work group activities:

  • Work with customers to prioritize and scope work – customers may be cross refinery functions (maintenance/operations/capital projects/business planning)

  • Perform 2nd level technical review of engineering work packages to ensure compliance with local & industry codes, company technical standards, and refinery instructions.

  • Review & approve Refinery Electrical Connection Permits

  • Manage the team’s Loss Prevention System performance and involvement

  • Team supports a 24/7 operation

  • Manage conflicts and remove barriers

  • Utilize/Enforce IMPACT (for shutdowns) and CPDEP (for projects)

  • Manage resources:

  • Assure that team resources meet the business unit needs, and work with the Designs Team Leader to resolve if needed.

  • As a member of the Designs Plant Support Leadership team, work initiatives that improve the organization’s performance.

  • Assume an active role in recruiting new hires.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.

  • This is a safety sensitive Position.

    Preferred Qualifications:

· 5 years of experience with instrumentation or electrical disciplines
