Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Experienced Process Control Engineer or Control System Analyst located in Salt Lake City, Utah through June 15th at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

Key job responsibilities include support for routine daily operation of plant units and providing engineering and support for the plant’s Process Control System (PCS). Providing this support requires collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to work with Operations, Maintenance, IT and Technical functions within the refinery.

Job scope includes:

Responsibility to assess new instrumentation and control technologies and to determine the right opportunities for their application.

Responsibility to troubleshoot instrumentation/process problems and issues, develop alternatives; propose and implement solutions for long term reliability.

Responsibility to troubleshoot Process Control hardware/system problems and issues, develop alternatives; propose and implement solutions for long term reliability.

Responsibility to carry out various studies to improve process efficiency, reliability and economics.

Responsibility to provide engineering analysis and evaluation of process control and instrumentation projects. Responsible for design, management and execution of process control projects.

Responsibility to ensure application of suitable industry and company codes and standards in selection, construction and usage of process control system.

Responsibility to maintain and preform economic evaluation of APC strategies throughout the refinery.

Responsibility to design and program logical control strategies throughout the Refinery.

Required Qualifications:

2-3 yrs Process Controls Experience

Engineering Degree or 5 years Process Control Experience

Technical background or demonstrated strong technical aptitude, able to understand and retain complex technical information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Application experience in the following areas:

  • Distributed Control Systems (DCSs) preferably Honeywell and Yokogawa

  • Understanding of advance process control theory and multivariable controls.

  • Experience and knowledge with server setup/maintenance including, software upgrades and security settings.

  • Experience working with facility operations personnel, particularly console operators.
