Position Details:

This is a team leader position responsible for the Process Safety Management (PSM) team. This position has responsibility for the technical oversight and professional development of OE/PSM Specialists and is expected to be an individual work contributor. The position will report directly to the refinery HES/OE/PSM Manager. The person in this position will work with colleagues at other Chevron refineries to implement and maintain consistent and sustainable process safety management processes as part of the refinery Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Help develop and improve standard management system processes to support the business, as well as develop methods to strengthen Refinery and system-wide Organizational Capability around Process Safety Management.

  • Provide support for API 754 RP process safety event LOC (Tier 1 and 2) classification

  • Risk Management Advisor including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)

  • Management of Change (MOC) Advisor [includes Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)]

  • Support Incident Investigation Advisor

  • Suppport Process Safety Information (PSI) Advisor

  • Support Facility Siting analysis and land use process. Advisor for Mfg, Factility Siting Community of Practice.

  • Coordinate several metrics reports

  • Faciliates coordination of Corporate (PSM and OEAG) and API audits

  • Regularly meet with others responsible for Operational Excellence (especially supporting PSM elements) in the refinery and across the system.

  • Manage expert consultants and short-term contractors who augment the capabilities of the team.

This is a safety sensitive position

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 7+ years experience with facilities and operations within the Petroleum and/or Chemical industries

  • Demonstrated personal commitment to Operations Excellence (OE)

  • Has strong written and oral communication skills

  • Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various process safety management processes (PHA, Incident Investigation, MOC, PSSR, PSI).

  • Strong facilitation, mentoring and teamworking skills
