As Chevron’s Upstream Policy Lead, you will s erve as the lead policy, legislative and regulatory affairs advisor for Upstream issues, leading the development and coordination of Chevron’s positions and strategies, with a primary focus on U.S. Upstream operations and support for international Upstream operations.

You will:

  • Coordinate Chevron’s enterprise approach to upstream issues by serving as the issue manager and policy advisor,

  • Lead issue teams and analysis of potential business implications, identify business opportunities, and develop advocacy positions, messaging, and proactive strategies to address issues.

  • Coordinate and develop policy briefing materials and presentations to executives, corporate departments, business segments, trade associations, and government officials in consultation and coordination with and key internal partners.

  • Track, assess and provide analysis on policy, legislative and regulatory issues for key state, U.S. federal upstream and related environmental issues. Monitor and provide support on emerging policies and regulations related to upstream operations, as needed.

  • Assist in guiding work of regionally focused upstream advisors.

  • Represent Chevron on select trade association committees.

  • Identify and develop amendments and revisions to proposed legislation and regulation as appropriate.

  • Engage with business leaders and subject matter experts to prioritize and effectively manage the opportunities and issues impacting upstream business operations.

  • This role will work across all segments and functional groups, and require strong collaboration skills, sophisticated policy knowledge, and a growth mindset.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, natural resources management or related fields

  • +15 years of relevant experience in policy, legislative and regulatory affairs.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and at all levels within the organization.

  • Expertise in facilitating meetings and discussions to develop issue positions and messages.

  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills.

  • Demonstrated strong writing skills.

  • Experience managing policy issues, including demonstrated ability to assess implications on upstream business operations.

  • Experience tracking, analyzing and summarizing legislation and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred.
